A SURVEY OF THE LITHUANIAN ECONOMY 2009/2010 (1)

28-09-2009
The most recent 24th survey of the Lithuanian economy, carried out in September 2009, indicates that market participants‘ expectations changed radically compared to the beginning of 2009. The changes in the forecasts of economic indicators for 2009 show that market participants are much more disappointed than they were at the beginning of the year and they evaluate Lithuania‘s economic conditions very pessimistically. According to the survey of the Lithuanian economy, most of the economic indicators will sharply and significantly worsen in 2009. It is forecasted that in 2010, the economic situation will still worsen, yet at a slower pace, while some indicators (exports growth, corporate finance) will improve. It is the first time in the history of the LFMI survey that market participants‘ forecasts, when making predictions for the same year, deteriorated this much.
