Guoda Azguridienė joined the institute in 1997 as a policy analyst. Since 2001 she has served as LFMI‘s vice-president and was appointd to be head of LFMI's reasearch in May 2006. She Guoda launched and led for three years LFMI‘s bi-annual project “A Survey of Lithuania‘s Macroeconomic Variables.”
At present Guoda‘s fields of expertise are healthcare and social security reform, telecommunications, information technologies and transportation policy, knowledge economy and general economic issues in Lithuania and in the European Union.
Guoda holds a diploma in mathematics from Vilnius University and an MA in civil engineering and PhD in economics from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. While seeking her degrees, Guoda did internships with Danish and Swedish universities.
When policy drafting on the legal foundations for the knowledge economy was commenced in 2000, Guoda took an active part in the task forces on almost all major legal documents. Owing to her efforts, this new area of business was not obstructed with unjustified requirements, the prospects of its development and the opening of new niches were protected, and quite a few attempts of ushering the government in the IT sector were foiled.
Guoda Azguridienė is a co-author of a 2003 study “An Assessment of the EU Lisbon Strategy and its Implications for Lithuania.” This was Lithuania‘s first analysis of the Lisbon strategy which later helped initiate discussion on the prospects and implications of implementing the strategy.
Guoda Azguridienė also participated in legislative drafting groups on pension and healthcare provision.
From May 2005 to May 2006 Guoda was a member of the board of the Open Society Fund-Lithuania. At present she is a co-author of the Naujasis Židinys-Aidai journal. |
